Ethics in South African Healthcare
ABOUT THE COURSE
This course introduces learners to the ethical principles that guide healthcare practice in South Africa. It explores how healthcare professionals make responsible decisions while respecting patient rights, cultural diversity, and legal responsibilities within a complex healthcare environment.
Participants will examine real-world ethical challenges such as confidentiality, informed consent, resource limitations, professional conduct, and end-of-life decision-making. The course also highlights the impact of social determinants of health and inequality on healthcare delivery, encouraging learners to think critically about fairness, dignity, and accountability.
By the end of the course, learners will better understand how to apply ethical reasoning in clinical and community settings, communicate respectfully with diverse patients, and uphold professional standards that promote trust and quality care.
